The Efficacy of Eyebright in Dealing with Skin Problems

Anti-aging skincare brand, LuxeOrganix, has recently commented on the effectiveness of the herb Eyebright in healing both eye problems as well as skin problems as a part of their latest anti-aging skincare awareness campaign.

Euphrasia Officinalis, more popularly known as Eyebright, is a wild plant native to Western Europe. Long used in herbal medicine, it’s typically touted as a natural remedy for eye problems. Eyebright is usually taken by mouth to treat inflamed nasal passages, allergies, hay fever, common cold, bronchial conditions, and inflamed sinuses (sinusitis). It is also used for cancer, coughs, conjunctivitis, earaches, epilepsy, headaches, hoarseness, inflammation, jaundice, runny nose, skin ailments, and sore throat.

According to Christine Kominiak, Co-Founder at LuxeOrganix, “Because of its incredible healing abilities, we have included Wildcrafted Euphrasia Officinalis (Eyebright) as an ingredient in our eye cream for dark circles and puffiness due to its effectiveness as an eye soother that is naturally derived.”

Some people apply Eyebright directly to the eye in the form of a lotion, poultice, or eye bath to treat a variety of conditions including conjunctivitis, inflammation of the eyelids at the edge of the lashes, eye fatigue, inflammation of the blood vessels, eyelids and conjunctiva, and for “glued” and inflamed eyes. Eyebright is also applied to the eyes to prevent mucus and mucous membrane inflammation of the eyes.

As an astringent, the herb is used to aid in the healing of skin wounds. It is made into a poultice and used on the wound topically. It can also be used to treat acne and aid in skin inflammation. A cold Eyebright poultice can help tighten skin. Historically, Eyebright has been used in British Herbal Tobacco, which was smoked for ongoing lung conditions and colds.

LuxeOrganix has recently launched a new range of anti-aging products, which includes a natural face moisturizer that includes vitamin C as an ingredient. To learn more about the brand, please visit their official website at
